Holiday Crostini

Today  I am channeling Martha Stewart of the 80s for this easy and tasty holiday crostini recipe I created with La Brea Bakery.

I love flipping through vintage food magazines and came upon this amazing spread of tea sandwiches that Martha created for a holiday party spread many years ago.  I was blown away with one how gorgeous they were but also how simple they were. Everyday ingredients put together to create something stunning. Inspired by these crostini I decided to create my own holiday spread using my favorite sandwich bread from La Brea Bakery.

Holiday Recipe Project with Thermomix

If you are not familiar, Thermomix  is a blender / food processor / stand mixer that also cooks, sautés and steams - it is basically my sous chef in the kitchen. For the past couple of months I have been working with them to create my very own holiday recipe booklet! This booklet is filled with some of my very favorite holiday recipes, made especially for the Thermomix. It’s available today in a special holiday bundle that includes a Thermomix TM5 and all its accessories, another Thermomix baking cookbook , and a cute cake stand. Make sure to check it out and let me know what you think!

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

To me, Thanksgiving is all about easy comfort food. Especially if I am hosting, I don’t want to be worrying about anything last minute. The name of the game is to totally enjoy myself and hopefully not stress.

I love to make food that is tasty but also can be made ahead. That goes for appetizers too - no reason to be making any dishes that require last minute attention. Enter my spinach and artichoke dip. I took the traditional spinach and artichoke dip and lightened it, by adding more spinach and artichokes, and the result is one of the tastiest dips ever.  Also make sure to serve this with toasted crunchy baguette slices.

Leftover Turkey and Biscuits

Every Thanksgiving the same question comes up - what can I do with all of my Thanksgiving leftovers? There are only so many sandwiches that a person can make and eat before it gets old. This leftover turkey and biscuit recipe is perfect for all of that leftover turkey.

You could even freeze the turkey and make this at a later day. If you don’t have turkey, feel free to swap in cooked chicken instead.

Molten Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter

Give me all the chocolate please. Well, let me rephrase that. Please give me anything that has to do with chocolate and peanut butter. I absolutely cannot resist that flavor combination. And don’t even get me started on what happens when you put them together in a molten chocolate cake – it is the most unbelievable dessert out there.  You should probably go make it, right now.

Cauliflower Pizza

I am a big fan of pizza and could probably eat pizza (or tacos) pretty much everyday of the week. Although that sounds delicious, it is probably not the most healthy of diets. Enter caulfilower pizza. When I want pizza but want one that is a little more nutritious, this is what I turn to. Although it is not exactly like pizza dough, this cauliflower pizza is pretty darn close.

Feel free to put all of your favorite toppings on the crust. I like old school pizza sauce, cheese and basil but the sky is the limit in what you can top with pizza crust.

Upside Down Banana Cake

I love food brands that remind me of a time and place in my life. Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee at Home is one of those brands.  Going to school in Boston, I like every other college kid in town, had an iced coffee every morning, even when it was below freezing and snowing. I even interned at the advertising agency that held the Dunkin’ account and made some horribly embarrassing advertising campaign for Dunkin’ Donuts as my final project that thankfully has been lost (hopefully).

Dutch Apple Cake

This past summer we embarked on an epic European vacation. One of these days I will get around to posting some of those pictures here, but until then lets talk about this apple pie/apple cake situation that we encountered on our trip. The first leg of our trip was LA to Amsterdam. We later went onto Denmark and Sweden but for the purpose of this post, lets talk all about Amsterdam and that apple cake.
