Pretty much everyone in my family got an Instant Pot as a gift for the holidays. They were seriously discounted on Amazon just in time for the holidays. Since I don't want my family to starve I thought I would start writing up recipes for them and put them on here as well. There is already a killer chicken taco recipe on my site, but up next is turkey and sweet potato chili.
Read MoreI am back with another one pot pasta - this one is full of kale, lemon zest, and pine nuts. If you haven’t already noticed I am a huge fan of pan sauces in pasta dishes because they use kitchen staples to create a complete meal. Plus they work in a pinch when you forget the pasta sauce or are not feeling a heavy pasta dish.
Read MoreI have been trying hard to eat healthy this week. I feel like this week is the buffer between Thanksgiving and when all the holiday parties come at you in full force. This asian salmon with cabbage slaw is on heavy rotation these days, which is good because it is super tasty and really delicious.
Read MoreI am trying to eat a little healthier for the next couple of days given last week's Thanksgiving feast and the upcoming holidays. This shrimp scampi with zucchini noodles is on heavy rotation.
Read MoreSo lets take about leftovers! My turkey pozole is the perfect way to use up all of that leftover turkey from Thanksgiving. I know it is not a traditional way to eat leftovers but I promise this traditional Mexican soup is delicious and even a little healthy.
Read MoreI am back with another one-pot pasta recipe, because one-pot anything seems to be my jam these days. This pasta has butternut squash, sage and walnuts - it is perfect for fall. Couple things to note about the recipe.
Read MoreI first discovered this chicken dish from one of my old co-workers a couple years ago. I was amazed chicken could taste so good and so flavorful. Here is my adaptation of the recipe - it is easy and delicious.
Read MoreThere is a jar of this chimichurri sauce in my fridge at all times. It add tons of flavor to steak, chicken, seafood and even bigs bowls of veggies and rice. I know that adding mint into a chimichurri is a little unconventional but if mint is not your thing, just replace it with more parsley. Also my secret ingredient is a little bit of honey -that sweetness balances the acidity and makes it perfect.
Read MoreYou guys, I had one of the coolest afternoons yesterday. Don't judge me because I am a total dork but I had a meeting at one of the cookbook publishing mecca's -Ten Speed Press. I know this is so unexciting to you but really exciting to me - I am a huge fan (borderline hoarder) of cookbooks and in all the land, Ten Speed produces some of my favorites. The halls were lined with gorgeous pictures of food and the best part was I got to go into their library where I was literally surrounded wall to wall with every cookbook I could dream of. I died. Honest to goodness heaven for a cookbook hoarder. I could just move in and be surrounded by cookbooks and live happily ever after. One of these days I am going to do a cookbook round-up but until then here are some cookbooks I am drooling over: Camino (local Oakland restaurant) Hartwood (makes me want to hope on a plane and fly to Tulum immediately) and Sweeter off the Vine (because who doesn't love a cookbook based solely on baking with fruit)
Read MoreCan I tell you something? Something that is pretty shocking especially in my line of work- I hate (well hate is a strong word) but deeply dislike holiday food. I know right!? How can that be? There are a couple of reasons. First, when you work in a test kitchen and have to develop recipes for Thanksgiving in the middle of July, the allure of holiday food kind of loses its appeal. Turkey and stuffing in July is just kind of weird. It also doesn't help that I never really know what time of year it is because I work about 6 months ahead when developing recipes - Christmas in August, Valentine's Day in October - it is kind of confusing when the real holiday finally comes around. Plus most of the time that holiday food just doesn't taste good. There I said it. Bam! But you know what always tastes good - tacos. If I could have a taco for every meal, I would and I would be completely happy.
