Beer Bread with Honey Butter
For the bread:
3 cups flour
1 Tbs. baking powder
3 Tbs. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 cup grated sharp yellow cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 cup melted butter, divided
1 - 12 oz bottle or can of beer (I used a pumpkin ale but any beer would work)
For the honey butter
1- 8 oz stick of butter, at room temperature
3 Tbs. honey
flaky sea salt
Preheat oven to 375F. Spray a loaf pan with non stick spray and line with parchment paper leaving a 2” overhang to easily remove the bread.
In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, pepper, 3/4 cup of grated cheddar, and 3 tablespoons of the melted butter. Add the beer and stir well (batter will be sticky). Pour batter into prepared pan.
Top with the remaining cheese and drizzle with remaining butter.
Bake bread for about 45 to 55 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Let bread cool on a rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
While the bread is cooling make the honey butter by combining the honey and butter and pinch of flaky sea salt.
Slice the beer bread and slather with the honey butter and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
